Retired aka Career Change

If you have been following my blog, I apologize for going just under a year since the last post. I did notice on the last post, that I was hoping it would be my last start of school. Well, it was!
On June 3, I celebrated with several friends my last "last day of school," which happened to be my 46th last day of school. This confused some who were invited, but they still made it.
It has been enjoyable to hear people congratulate me on my retirement from 29 years of teaching in the public schools. Since, after ending each of those 46 years of being schooled, or schooling, I have been on summer break, it has not sunk in yet that I am retired. That feeling will sink in around August when my colleagues return to their jobs and I will continue my new found career in insurance sales.
I know with that last statment, I have lost many of you already. I know my true friends will at least hear me out when I say, insurance!
Back to school (the topic, not the job!)
It was a privilige working with my colleagues at Raytown South High School and elsewhere in the Raytown C-2 District for the past 26 years. There are many who I would like to list, but I fear that I would only leave out somebody and those who know me, know I hate to hurt anyone.
I do plan to get back to the original intent of this blog and recognize some of the great people I have crossed paths with in my life. I would hope that if you feel I have left somebody out, please let me know. I will either include them in a future posting, or I would be more than happy to post your narrative of this friend.
